The estimates we were given on the day of the protest put the numbers at around 250,000 people. That seems to have been revised down, as all the news outlets are saying 70,000-150,000. Whatever the numbers, the back of the protest was still at the Bank of England when the front of it was getting settled into Parliament Square, so it was a tonne of people either way. Awesome turnout, great atmosphere, little-to-no trouble bar a couple smokebombs, and a relatively relaxed police presence. All in all, well worth going to - and thanks to the local People's Assembly group, it was only £8 to join a coach, so it didn't cost as much as expected too!

But yeh, getting home, it's difficult to resist the temptation to try and hunt down photo albums and videos posted online, to see if I could spot either me or my protest sign. I managed to catch it in a piece of Channel 4 news footage, and spotted myself in a photo on the Bristol People's Assembly's Facebook page, so that's pretty neat. I'm sure there's more out there, but god knows how the hell to hunt them down. I know there are definitely some out there, cos people kept taking photos of both sides of my sign. Still, even with the internet - or because because of it - I don't think I'll find a fraction of the videos I'm visible in. There were just so many cameras taking so many photos that it's a bit needle-in-a-haystack.

Still, a good march that'll hopefully get the ball rolling some more in the anti-austerity movement.
