"I'm a girl" is not an adequate excuse! Gender has no bearing on whether or not someone knows what the San Diego Comicon is, and the implication that only guys can be geeky enough to know is stupid! I know plenty of girl-geeks, and they tend to be great people, and I think I might know more girl-geeks than guy-geeks, so what you have there is not a goddamn excuse! What's more, you didn't need an excuse! Not a lot of people know what the SDCC is, so it's a fair enough question! You don't need to fucking explain yourself, especially not with a shitty excuse like that! I wouldn't have wanted to react to "I'm not into that geeky stuff" or "I don't really know about that sort of thing". Those are more reasonable explainations that don't raise any potentially offensive implications. But the fact that she tried to use "I'm a girl" as some sort of defense? God dammit, Boudica nearly fought the Romans out of Britian, Cleopatra ruled the whole of Egypt, Lauren Faust made My Little Pony good, "I'm a girl" IS NOT A GOD DAMN EXCUSE.

Unless it's a question like "Why don't you have a penis" or something. That's probably the right time to use it.

Gee, when I was all up in the Batman boards, almost EVERYONE was a girl. That was how I met my husband: he assumed my screen name was a dude's name and gravitated to me. ;D

I didn't know what a hairslide was either...

It would be real nice to go into a store and buy a hairbrush without feeling like a freak though.
