These are the four places I went to for university interviews, and pretty much the reactions I got.

Bedfordshire - I think Bedfordshire was already at a disadvantage, since the university was in Luton. I didn't see a lot of Luton, but what I saw looked like a dump. Not a nice place to live. And then the interviewer asks that question. This is after he's seen my animated short, "Supervillian Security". If he thinks that that's good enough to get me employed in the animation industry, then that says a lot about the standards of that university. Needless to say, I'm probably not accepting their offer.

Lincoln - I was really excited about Lincoln. It's the only one that I actually went to an open day for before the interview. It's in a really nice town, and the animation suites look quite good, if slightly limited, and the interviewer seemed ecstatic about my work! Seriously! On the way back to the waiting room, we took a detour so he could show his colleagues my stuff. That's a hell of a positive message right there.

Derby - Derby struck me with an excessive level of adequateness. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really seem to have much to make it great. And the town itself was the same. It was ok, looks quite nice, I guess, but nothing too special. And the interviewer seemed like he didn't really want to be there. So yeh, Derby's not one of my top two.

UWE Bristol - Bristol has the most realistic chance I can see for hosting a HvZ game, with this AMAZING area for it right next to the Bower Ashton campus. It had varied animation suites, CG, Flash, stop-motion, it had direct links with the industry, and Bristol itself seemed really quite nice. It was hard to tell what the two interviewers made of me, but they seemed enthusiastic, and they asked about the characters I'd created for the animated short. Now, I thought at the time that that was probably a good sign, and the fact that I got an offer more than twice as fast as I did from any other university confirmed that. Bristol's also home to a Forbidden Planet store, so that's a massive plus.

So yeh, it's pretty much between Lincoln and UWE Bristol.

Like Mazriel says, for the fith time, flip a coin, and if that doesn't pick the right University keep flipping until the right one gets more heads!
