So, apparently, the same sex marriage bill passed it's final reading in the House of Lords and was given royal assent, meaning that it's now law. Not that you'd have noticed, since it got hardly any coverage on the news and no one really talked about it. Which is a bit odd, cos I was under the impression that that particular legislation was kind of a big deal.

And this week, David Cameron unveiled his rehash of previous plans to censor the internet, trying to convince us it was something new, and "save the children" or whatever. To be fair, this story did get plenty of coverage, and so far as I'm aware, he's had to back down, since it's been pointed out that every porn filter in existence is kinda shitty at differentiating the target of said filter from legitimate content.

But the news that was blasted from the rooftops of every media organisation on the planet was that Kate's had a baby. Good for her and everything, but the coverage did seem rather disproportionate.

Oh government, you so silly with you shifty strategies to distract the public. Did the internet censorship bill get passed over there in GB?

It's not a bill atm, I don't think. David Cameron's still trying to convince people that it's a good idea, and as far as I can tell, he's doing a terrible job of it. So with any luck, his proposals will get shot down pretty quick.

It amazes me how much America gave a shit about the royal wedding and the baby. My Twitter feed blew up from both, and not just from the British people I follow.
