A shop nearby had a poster in the window for a weekend position there, so I handed in a CV. I wasn't really looking for a job right now, but a weekend position would fit nicely around uni, so I wouldn't have to sacrifice much in order to do both. But I don't think I actually thought I was going to get an interview for it. Of course, the comic's not literal, but it didn't take them long to call me back, which I suppose means my CV's stronger than I give it credit for.
That's pretty much how I got my Chistmas temp job at Argos. Hand in CV, got a call to arrange an interview half an hour later. Few weeks after interview, they offered me a job. It's weird. You apply to all these sites, send out hundreds of applications, and get nothing back, but hand in a CV on the off-chance, and BOOM.
