I don't think anyone can really argue with the fact that the Israel-Palestine conflict is one of the most asymmetric conflicts of modern times. Gaza's capabilities rarely even scratch an Israeli building because of Israel's iron dome system, while Israel can raze buildings to the ground in Gaza quite easily.

It's pretty clear that the only way it's gonna end is with Israel starting the peace process, but that they have absolutely no intention of doing so. That's the real catch-22 here.

Günther, I am offended that you are offended, and even more offended by Tim being fascinated. I am going to write to the Daily Mail about how offended I am. ;)

Actually Israel has tried for peace many times before but Hamas has rejected it

Because Israel has repeatedly refused to let Palestinians have freedom of movement (even within their own territory in the West Bank), or dismantle any of their illegal settlements in Palestinian land, or lift the blockade in the sea around Gaza that's killed off their ability to fish for food effectively, or get any resources imported to rebuild the infrastructure that Israel destroys every time they attack.

Israel's terms for peace usually read like "they stop firing rockets at us, but we get to keep oppressing them".
